Wedding FOTD and NOTD

We went to a wedding yesterday at Fernbrook Gardens in Alabang.  The place is amazing!  It is so beautiful that you would even think you're not in the Phils.

Here are some photos taken by my phone camera coz I left my digicam in the car.

swans in the man-made river (we were on a bridge going to the chapel)

There was also a huge gondola with 2 gondoliers but I wasn't able to take a photo of that.

Benefit Coralista

My first Benefit product:  Benefit's Box o' Powder in Coralista.  I bought this directly from Benefit's website HERE for $28 last year.

It is described as a "warm coral-pink" blush and since I love blushes and didn't have a coral shade yet, I got this.  Isn't the box uber cute?

Haircut again

I got another haircut more than a week ago. Again from Tony & Jackey with my favorite Korean stylist Calvin (he really is so cute). My last haircut was end of June I think and it was just a bit longer than this cut but my hair grows fast so I had it cut really short. I'm sure by December my hair will be long again enough for me to put it in a small ponytail . It is just so hot that I can't stand it. However, short hair needs more styling for me because my hair is wavy. Oh well, at least I, or rather my hair, always looks different.

Photo taken Sunday when we went to Lipa, Batangas to visit my SIL and her family. We went around Fernando Airbase too since they live there. My hair is darker now than in the picture coz I colored it when we got home. I have a wedding to go to this week and my gray hairs are showing.

Cut and Color

A month ago in another post I said I will color my hair and I did. This is how it turned out...dark brown. I like that my hair isn't as red as before and all the grey covered.

I also got a hair cut from the new Korean salon that opened near our house, Tony & Jackey. The stylist, Calvin, looked like he was straight out of those Korean novelas. He's sooo gorgeous! He suggested an above the shoulder bob coz it's so hot right now. My hair grows fast anyway so by the end of the year it will be below shoulder length again.

Photo taken after a few days so my hair doesn't look as nice as it did right after the cut.

Anyway, my birthday FOTD from last friday. It really isn't much coz I fell asleep in the afternoon and by the time I woke up we had to leave so I was in a rush, as usual, and couldn't put on anything else.

What I used:

Avon Magix Face Perfector SPF 20
Lumiere Mineral Foundation in Cashmere Medium Warm- 1 layer only
Dreamworld Minerals Creme Topping in Cocoa
Aromaleigh URFP in Peaches and Cream
Jane Be Pure Blush in Rose Satin
a light wash of Pureluxe Eyez Cream in Vanilla on eyes
lips: in the photo- none

FOTD and me thinking out loud

You're all probably bored with my FOTD's coz they all look the same. Anyway, here's a recent one...still looking "the same" LOL!

Taken last Saturday at my friend's son's 1st birthday party. It was circus-themed complete with mini carousel, clowns on stilts, dog and monkey show and acrobats (they were amazing!).

Awkward pose but I cropped the photo to keep my good buddy's privacy (she's a pediatrician). I also forgot my camera at home!!! Of all times to forget my camera...I was only able to get crappy shots of the party using my VGA cam phone so this photo was from my friend's camera which she uploaded for my sake at Facebook (thanks J!).

As usual, I was in a hurry with only 10 minutes or less to put on everything so I used my pressed cosmetics.

What I was using:

Avon Magix Face Perfector SPF 20 as primer
Adorned with Grace foundation mix of Hope 3.8 and 4.2 (first layer)
Joppa Morning Dew foundation in Grecian Gold on top of AwG (2nd layer)
spritz with toner to set
Dreamworld Creme Topping FP in Cocoa
Aromaleigh URFP in Peaches & Cream

blush:
Cargo blush in Tonga

Eyes:
Artdeco eyeshadow base
Jessie's Girl Bejeweled e/s palette #2 and #4 using 3 shades for lid, crease and highlight
Indelible gel liner in Magnetism on upper lash line

lips:
Avon Glazwear lipgloss in Darling Pink

**I wish I could use my mmu loose shadows most of the time but I can't. I have more than 200 shades in my stash! I am always pressed for time when we go out because I have to put my DD first. By the time it's my turn to dress up, they're all waiting for me to finish and I don't like to keep people waiting so I end up using the first thing I see and the easiest to use (pressed shadows) or most of the time none at all. Just foundation, powder, blush and the gloss I apply in the car. Pathetic, huh?

I tried doing it the other way around with me getting my face ready first but it just isn't feasible. I would end up wet from bathing my little girl or all sweaty from the heat in the bathroom. Haay, difficulties of a mom (or is it just me?).

Adorned With Grace Foundation

I thought I've already posted this before but it seems that I've forgotten and left it in draft form.

My Adorned with Grace foundation match is a 50/50 mix of Hope 3.8 and 4.2.  Either of them used alone is off on me so the mix was inevitable.  I like their foundation now that I've tried it and I always thought I was the last one to because I only recently ordered when they've been around since last year.

Foundation ingredients:
Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc, Magnesium Stearate, & Iron Oxides.

The Hope range of shades is for those with Olive Yellow skin tones like me.  Turns out I do have olive tones contrary to what I thought of as having just pure yellow tones.  It offers medium coverage which is just right for our tropical climate without giving a flat matte look.  The foundation lasts on me the whole day with a good primer  and not making my face an oil slick later on.   Topped with the Divine Oil Control Powder, the effect is much better with good oil control.

I don't break out with the foundation blend and it feels light on the skin.  The full sizes are much cheaper compared with other mineral makeup companies and ordering their Duo foundation set gives a bigger discount especially if you have to mix foundation shades like me.

It's the blushes that I truly like from their company and the Supreme Smoothing Powder (like MUFE's Hi Definition powder) gives other companies a run for their money.  I'd like to hoard some of these next time.  I'm not much of an eyeshadow ho but other bloggers love the eye shadows because they're pigmented with a wide range of shades.

Here's an FOTD during one sweltering hot day:

Hope 3.8 & 4.2 mix foundation
Divine Oil Control Powder
Supreme Smoothing Powder in Golden Tint
AwG blush in Vivacious
Earthen Glow minerals Radiance glow in Sil Vous Plait on top of blush
Lips: SN Rare berry lip gloss
Eyes: Eyeko Sexy Eyes Palette

Avon Magix (Part 2)

My first review/impressions on the Avon Magix Face Perfector can be found here.

I recently got myself a few more tubes to keep it in stock because it isn't available in our local Avon dealers.  You can get your own tubes at the Makeup Mix Shop.  They ship internationally for a very reasonable price and those who order $20 and up even get free shipping (even for international shoppers).

It still is my HG mattifier and primer.  I haven't broken out even with daily use.  Sometimes I use it alone because of the SPF 20 content.  Makeup goes on smoothly and my pores look smaller.  I've worn it for a full day and a bit of shine would still show but that would be after more than 6 hours.  It doesn't bother me though because my skin is hopelessly oily. One blotting paper is all that's needed for the day.

Will I continue using this?  Definitely (that's why I got back-ups).  I really hope it would be available locally.

Freebie mineral pigment I got from The Makeup Mix Shop (Thanks, Toma!):

Joppa Foundation Medium 2.5

After testing the new sample I got, I decided that Medium 2.5 of Joppa's Full Coverage foundation was a better match for me.  (I ordered myself a full size refill bag right away).  Joppa's foundation has medium to heavy coverage, it doesn't break me out nor produce an oil slick on my face after a few hours.  It is on of my HG mineral foundation for more than a year now.  Their finishing powders, blushes and eye shadows are also very good.

Good thing they came up with this new shade because the Medium #3 lacked yellow but was a perfect match otherwise.  It was just a bit on the pink/beige side.

Here's an FOTD from a party I went to last weekend:

Bare Naturals Dollface Cheenee Blush

Got this in the mail the other day from Bare Naturals.

It's a sample of their mineral blush in Dollface Cheenee which gives a soft cherry blush glow.

The blush is pigmented and a little bit of powder does give color on my medium skin. Tried it out this weekend as seen on the FOTD:

Everything I used is exactly the same as previous post.

Belated V-Day post

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's day (whether you celebrate it or not)!

I don't really celebrate this day by going out on a date (with hubs) since traffic is terrible on this day of hearts. Hubby just gives me flowers or food :-). This particular day fell on a Saturday and hubby has work so he gave me a box of chocolates ahead of time.

As you can see, a few pieces are already missing because my little girl opened it way ahead of me as soon as she saw her dad carrying the box. Anyway, they were so good!

Spent the morning at the Salcedo Market in Makati City with my parents and DD. There were so many people (of different nationalities) and so much food from different nations. We bought different varieties for take out for our lunch at home. The pasta I got was to die for! Sorry, no food pics because there really was no time to get photos since we were so famished by the time we got home that the food was gone before you can say Poof!

My DD had a fun time playing at the park there and it was like a mini United Nations with kids from different countries.

Cut, Color, other stuff

Weeks ago I had a haircut and I got a short one. Yesterday, I colored my own hair using Revlon Colorsilk in #33 Dark Soft Brown to cover my gray hair - yikes! I have a lot...it's genetic :-(

It doesn't look good when it's not blow dried but I guess it's always like that. It just looks good when coming from the salon (esp. since my hair is wavy). Last time I colored my hair was more than 1 year ago and I don't remember what shade of Colorsilk I used.

Looking at this photo I'm not sure if my hair looks like this under the sun but I hope not. Maybe it's just the effect of the camera's flash. Important thing is - NO GRAY HAIR!

***
Been playing around with some of my EG Minerals eye shadow samples.

I used Too Shy on the lid and Fruit of the Vine Cabernet on the crease. I applied them dry and with no base. They are both shimmery and I got shimmer fall out on my cheeks. They also seem sheer and I applied a lot but they did not come out well in the photos. I guess I should have used a base.

*************
Today I am using EG Minerals shadow in The Rainbow from the Illusion collection. It appears white in the bag but once applied and hit by light you can see the color, in this case it's Amber (says the website). I tried to get a picture but because my camera is crappy, I can't take a photo of it at all. The color won't come out in the picture.

I am trying to put on eyeshadow everyday now just so i could use all my samples - I have more than 200 colors!!! Even if I am just here at home, I'll try to put on even just 1 shade. Most of the time I don't get to use eye shadows when I go out because I am always in a hurry. Only just enough time to put on foundation and blush (the lippie I put on in the car).

B-day FOTD and some packages

Had my birthday dinner last night at Pepper Lunch. The food was great in a unique and fun way of dining. Once the food is served in a 260"C sizzling plate, you have to turn over or mix the food right away to cook it yourself then add the sauce you want. It was really yummy! This resto has branches all over Asia.

We got different slices of cake to share and pass around so we can taste all of them. After dinner, it was coffee for everyone at Coffe Bean & Tea Leaf except for me since I was so full from the food we ate.
