High Definition seems to be the "in" thing nowadays with makeup companies.  Earthen Glow Minerals launched their own version with their High Definition Pro. Liquid Mineral Foundation.

EG Minerals Haul

This came in the mail last week. It's my haul from the EG Minerals sale a month ago.

I got a sample of the Mineral Mousse foundation in Helena, a FS bottle of the Liquid Mattifying Moisturizer and Complexion Corrector in Apricot and samples of the Yellow Tweaker and Cover Me foundation in Soon.

I'll post reviews of the other 2 products once I've tried them out. I'm especially excited about the Mousse foundation. I'm glad this package came right on time for their current sale of Buy 2 get 1 free.

Mail Day and Swatches

This mail day came a week ago but I wasn't able to post it right away and since it's raining very hard now what better thing to do than to blog.  

From Earthen Glow Minerals (BOGO promo):

I got a full size of the Si Vous Plait Radiance Glow...

with my BOGO choice of a full size of the Finishing Powder in Golden tint.

The EG Minerals Radiance Glows are really beautiful and like Dayna's Minerals Glows which are my favorite.  They're not sparkly but give a sheen to the skin.  The more pigmented ones can stand alone as blush.  The finishing powders are like my HG Dreamworld Creme Toppings because of it's good oil control on my face.  The Golden tint is translucent like the other shades but sort of brightens up my face more.

 

I also got samples of the Lightly Tinted Primer and the Soon shade in Cover Me formula.  I match Helena and Yuan Yuan but felt I needed a darker shade for summer and was recommended this shade.  I've tried it and it is a bit too yellow so I mixed it with Yuan Yuan at a 50/50 ratio. It now matches perfectly as a summer shade. 

EGM was kind enough to give a freebie of a pigment since all packages were delayed in shipping out due to the high volume of orders during the sale.  I just don't know the shade since there was no name indicated, just a "thank you" sticker.

Cut, Color, other stuff

Weeks ago I had a haircut and I got a short one. Yesterday, I colored my own hair using Revlon Colorsilk in #33 Dark Soft Brown to cover my gray hair - yikes! I have a lot...it's genetic :-(

It doesn't look good when it's not blow dried but I guess it's always like that. It just looks good when coming from the salon (esp. since my hair is wavy). Last time I colored my hair was more than 1 year ago and I don't remember what shade of Colorsilk I used.

Looking at this photo I'm not sure if my hair looks like this under the sun but I hope not. Maybe it's just the effect of the camera's flash. Important thing is - NO GRAY HAIR!

Been playing around with some of my EG Minerals eye shadow samples.

I used Too Shy on the lid and Fruit of the Vine Cabernet on the crease. I applied them dry and with no base. They are both shimmery and I got shimmer fall out on my cheeks. They also seem sheer and I applied a lot but they did not come out well in the photos. I guess I should have used a base.

Today I am using EG Minerals shadow in The Rainbow from the Illusion collection. It appears white in the bag but once applied and hit by light you can see the color, in this case it's Amber (says the website). I tried to get a picture but because my camera is crappy, I can't take a photo of it at all. The color won't come out in the picture.

I am trying to put on eyeshadow everyday now just so i could use all my samples - I have more than 200 colors!!! Even if I am just here at home, I'll try to put on even just 1 shade. Most of the time I don't get to use eye shadows when I go out because I am always in a hurry. Only just enough time to put on foundation and blush (the lippie I put on in the car).

Got my EG BOGO...

....this week.

I was really lucky I nailed my perfect match without trying out samples first since my sample order didn't make it on time.

I got full sizes of Helena and Yuan Yuan both in the cover me formula which gives a full coverage with a matte (with slight glow) finish. I love this finish because it is flawless and for me, only 1 layer using little minerals is enough. I usually use 2 layers for all my other mmu foundations except this one. No concealer is needed too (although I rarely use it).

Helena falls in the Olive category while Yuan Yuan is in the Yellow shades although both of them look similar. I can even just mix them both.

I'll post an FOTD soon using either of these.

EG Minerals Liquid foundation Review

Along with my sample haul from EG Minerals was a 5 gr jar of liquid foundation which I wanted to try. I ordered the shade Bamboo and good thing it was a match.

The liquid is odorless and not too runny nor too thick. I haven't used liquid foundation in so long so I had difficulty applying it. I used a damp red sponge same as Dayna's. I used the foundation sticking on the jar's cap and around the neck of the jar (which was a bit much I think).

I had trouble blending, again bec. I am not used to liquids. It took a bit of time when I was satisfied that it looked even. It doesn't dry fast on the face so there is plenty of time to blend, blend, blend. But once it dried it didn't feel heavy at all. It actually felt like I was wearing loose powder foundation although the formula is not liquid to powder.

Coverage is medium and it doesn't look flat matte.

The foundation lasted the whole day on me with the usual oily T-zone but that's bec. I didn't put any oil control or finishing powder for testing purposes. I didn't itch nor notice any breakouts.

When I did a little bit of exercise and perspired late in the afternoon, the foundation came off on my hand. Hmm...I don't know if it would be the same if I put a finishing powder earlier. This isn't waterproof so I can't use this when I know it would be a hot and humid day.

I would need to test some more since this is only an initial review.

EG Minerals Samples / Swatches

I got these yesterday when I was hoping to have gotten them prior to the BOGO sale so I could get my shade in FS.  Unfortunately it didn't make it on time and I ordered my BOGO basing it on a friend's shade since we have the exact same shade in ALL mineral makeup foundations.  Good thing I got the right shades to order!

Since I got Helena and Yuan Yuan as my BOGO FS, I swatched them first and they looked like matches.  When I tried them on today they were both perfect matches on my face.  I can even mix them together and make just one big jar of foundation once I get my full size order.

e/s & blush swatches

Beautiful e/s is a bit too sparkly for my taste.  Papaya has just enough shimmer.  Both are very pigmented and applied smoothly.  

I love the Carmindy blush upon seeing the shade in the bag and swatched.  Bermuda blush looked scary in the bag and seemed a bit chalky when I was swatching it (maybe I just got too much on my finger).  I tried them on today and Bermuda looked so pretty when worn.  It also was not chalky like I initially thought.  They both applied smoothly and were pigmented that I had to remove some with a microfiber towel.

Bermuda blush turned out prettier on the cheek than Carmindy for me but they're both really nice and were soft matte.

That's probably it for my Christmas wish-list for now (gotta tighten the belt for difficult times ahead) except for the FS EG Minerals that I still haven't ordered because--- my shade has changed!  

I initially thought I was a Deanna and I was even about to order it the other day.  Good thing I tried the sample again and it was light for me.  I just ordered a new set of samples instead.  Hopefully I get it in time for their BOGO sale.

I'm off to Hong Kong on Friday up to Monday. Hopefully it won't rain since weather forecast would be cloudy to rainy :-(. Also I hope I get to do some shopping for clothes. Wish me luck. Been making our itinerary the whole week.


I've packed our clothes at the start of the week and for the 3 of us I've fitted them in ONE medium-sized suitcase (and all on 1 side of the suitcase too, other side would be for toiletries, etc)! I did bring an extra foldable bag just in case we get some shopping done. I travel light always.


My MMU is all packed and ready to go too. I'll be bringing DW Themis + Hebe mix, DW Cafe Au Lait finishing powder, Aromaleigh URFP in Translucent, Cargo blush in Tonga, Physician's Formula e/s compact and maybe the new EG lippies. AVON Magix would also go with me as my primer and mattifier. That's it. All no shimmer, matte, pressed and compacts for easy use.

EG Minerals Review

This is way overdue.

I'll start with the foundations first since that's what I've been reviewing this week.
The shades I chose weren't initially in the present category so it got me confused. They rearranged the categories with the shade names so the formula wasn't the one I wanted to try out. At least I got a few matches though.

Again, my photos with each foundation on.

Cover Me foundation:

Very good heavy coverage for me and for those with oily skin. It applies matte on the face and I just used 1 layer dry, enough to cover everything - no concealer needed. It felt light on the face but really looked good on. I think I need to apply a bit less coz on closer inspection (in person) I could see that I had makeup on but it still looked natural. Oh, this is hard to explain but I hope you get what I'm trying to say (?).

I didn't use primer nor finishing powder and after 4 hours my face isn't oily. No itchies even when I was sweating (ran over next door to check on a patient).

Oh, and there's no white cast in photos unlike other mmu with heavy coverage.

I think my match is DeAnna. I initially thought this was light for me but when I tested it again it wasn't. After consultation with Michelle of EG Minerals, she said that the Cover Me formula applies differently initially than what it looks like in the baggie. After it melded to my skin it was a perfect match.

Youthful Glow foundation:

This one has light to medium coverage. It also feels light but it wasn't enough coverage for me. For those with perfect skin to begin with and wanting a slight glow to their foundation, this would do. I found good matches here too coz these were what were mostly sent to me. I didn't try 3-4 other shades as they looked dark and too brown in the baggies. My good matches were Jin and Mia.

I don't have samples of the Light & Natural formula which is rice powder based and good for oily skin and the Liquid foundation. I plan to test them out soon.

Blushes:

I only got a few samples of blushes. When the site wasn't up yet, they had no matte blushes available for sampling so all the blushes I got were shimmery.

I love South Pacific Dawn the most among all these. The blushes are pigmented and only very little is needed. The blushes on the right-most are cool toned and I don't think they would suit me. The way i see it, the website swatches look a bit darker than they are IRL.

Finishing Powders:

I haven't tried everything yet but the ones I did were good. The Hi Definition Pro Powder to me is like Aromaleigh's - they have a cloud of powder when you put some in your swirly bowl. They look the same when applied since both are translucent and they mattify the face.

The Primers and Soft Focus finishing powders do help matte out the oilies. They're comparable to Dreamworld's or Lauress' Finishing Powders. I haven't tried the Rice Powder primer and the Silk Finishing Powder yet. Letting my skin take a break for awhile.

The shade is pretty in a peachy coral tint but the smell was so strong. It was a fruity scent I just don't know what kind.

When I applied it on my lips I thought the scent would go away in a few minutes but it didn't. I felt so nauseous that I had to remove the lippie right away. Even when I did the scent stuck to my hands and I had a headache the whole afternoon.

Also it leaked all over my lippie drawer. I think the seal of the tube was loose coz it fell out when I opened it and removed the wand. Maybe that's why it leaked even though I put it back.
If only the scent weren't that strong I would've used it.

This is my initial take on EG Minerals. Still have to try out the other products I have.
