Avon Magix Tinted Face Perfector SPF 15

I got this from the Makeup Mix Shop (click on logo at my sidebar to shop). I've posted here before that the Avon Magix is my HG face primer. This is the tinted version and it comes in compact form. It still comes in the all-important SPF 15 for added sun protection.

From the Avon website:

"On-the-go compact. Visibly minimizes pores witih patent-pending Optix Light-Diffusing Technology. Holds back shine for up to 10 hours. Reduces the look of fine lines...skin feels softer than ever. Shades adapt to your skin tone...like magic! Sheer Coverage. Natural matte finish. SPF 15."

The shades range from Fair to Deep and I got the Medium shade. The compact has 2 separate compartments, the top for the powder and the bottom is for the sponge applicator.

It has a gel to powder formula that is easy to blend and feels very light on the skin. It applies matte with very little color. I use this as a primer and my mineral foundation applied well. It does not cover imperfections since it is a primer but it makes the skin appear smoother with less visible pores under foundation.

Regarding the claim that it mattifies skin up to 10 hours, it doesn't for me. Like the original Magix in the tube a good half day works enough for me since my skin is really oily. Blotting papers does the trick most of the time to remove shine for the rest of the day.

This is now available locally in Light and Medium shades with regular price of Php 450 from your local Avon lady.

Anew Rejuvenate Night Revitalizing Cream

My previous night cream post is my HG night cream. Again, I've strayed to try out something new.

What is my current night cream?

The Anew Rejuvenate Night Revitalizing Cream from Avon.

Product description:

PM lightweight gel-cream that works while you sleep so you awaken to skin that looks fresher and more vibrant.
-Mini Extraction Technology: helps visibly shrink pores
-Exfo Smoothing Complex: resurfaces skin
-Revitafresh Technology: makes skin look even and smoother

I've been using this for a few weeks now. It is gel like in consistency which is easily spread across the skin and easily asorbed. It is not greasy and has a light floral scent. Good thing it is not too strong and dissipates right away so it doesn't cause me headaches. It felt very light on the face and made my skin so soft right after. It doesn't make my oily skin any more greasier because of it's texture.

What I like most about this is that it really delivers. After a few weeks use, the pores on my face do seem a bit smaller and smoother. I can't say anything about fine lines though coz the fine lines I have are under my eyes and I don't use it on the eye area. Also, my skin is a bit brighter.

I got this from my local Avon lady and it costs only Php 749 for the 30gr jar. I think that's around $15-16, a far cry from the $32 it sells for abroad. They also gave freebies during the promo period:

A burgundy bag and a full size Anew Rejuvenate 24 hour eye cream (retails for Php 600, $12-13) which I also use. Now I have a back-up jar :-)

***
I would probably alternate the use of Anew and Olay because I do like them both. They offer different but good results to my skin but I can not use them at the same time. Too much moisture. And they might react with one another. Maybe every 2-3 months is better.

Avon Magix (Part 2)

My first review/impressions on the Avon Magix Face Perfector can be found here.

I recently got myself a few more tubes to keep it in stock because it isn't available in our local Avon dealers.  You can get your own tubes at the Makeup Mix Shop.  They ship internationally for a very reasonable price and those who order $20 and up even get free shipping (even for international shoppers).

It still is my HG mattifier and primer.  I haven't broken out even with daily use.  Sometimes I use it alone because of the SPF 20 content.  Makeup goes on smoothly and my pores look smaller.  I've worn it for a full day and a bit of shine would still show but that would be after more than 6 hours.  It doesn't bother me though because my skin is hopelessly oily. One blotting paper is all that's needed for the day.

Will I continue using this?  Definitely (that's why I got back-ups).  I really hope it would be available locally.

Freebie mineral pigment I got from The Makeup Mix Shop (Thanks, Toma!):

Avon lippies and glimmerstick

I got a few things from Avon last week since they were on sale in the catalog.

The Pro-to-Go lipstick comes in a really cute case that you push up to reveal the lipstick. No caps that could get lost in your bag. I have Soft Peach (photos here) and now Pink Craze.

The lipsticks are not sticky and go on soft on the lips. They're not sheer but not too pigmented either and don't dry out the lips. I'm not a heavy lipstick user so these are just right for me. They last a few hours on me before reapplication is needed. I just think they're a bit small compared to other lipstick sizes but with the price (when on sale) I'm not complaining.

The Avon Glazewear liquid lip color I got in Darling Pink.

I have the Teddy Bear shade which I reviewed here. Teddy Bear is not available locally but the other shades are. I just noticed that Teddy Bear (US) is a bit more sticky than Darling Pink (local). Teddy Bear lasted a bit longer than Darling Pink on me.

It did not dry out my lips either like the Pro-to-go lipstick. It's not overly glossy (since it's not a gloss). It has a slight sweet scent that goes away after applying (or maybe my nose just isn't that sensitive to smells). Darling Pink has a slight shimmer and on my skin tone it looks nice. I've read reviews on MUA that this shade did not look good on lighter skin-toned ladies.

Again, for the price (P99, on promo) I would repurchase other shades.

Next is the Glimmerstick Brow Definer in Soft Black.

It's darker in real life. The flash just made it look like a gray shade. It applied smooth and soft on my hand when I did the swatch. The pencil is retractable so it won't get easily broken.

I don't have much experience with brow pencils and this is my first one ever. I can't review it fully yet as I've tried it only once. I also don't use brow definers regularly since my brows are thick. I only got this for special occasions to fill in sparse areas for more definition.

I wish Avon Philippines would bring in the Magix Face Perfector as I would really want to stock up on that one product. Here's my review for that.

EG Minerals & going on vacation

First of all, Barack Obama won! If I were American, I would have voted for him. I was teary-eyed listening to his speech this afternoon.

:-)

***************

I didn't order these but Michelle sent them to me bec. I didn't like the scent of the previous lippie. The new ones I really like! The scent is vanilla-ish (?) but different. It reminds me of something I've smelled before but I don't really remember what it is.

High Tea Lipgloss (LE) and Bellaire Lip cream

EGM lippies

This one's not from EG but I'll include it anyway. It's an AVON Pro-to-Go lipstick in Soft Peach. Really cute packaging.

I'm off to Hong Kong on Friday up to Monday. Hopefully it won't rain since weather forecast would be cloudy to rainy :-(. Also I hope I get to do some shopping for clothes. Wish me luck. Been making our itinerary the whole week.

I've packed our clothes at the start of the week and for the 3 of us I've fitted them in ONE medium-sized suitcase (and all on 1 side of the suitcase too, other side would be for toiletries, etc)! I did bring an extra foldable bag just in case we get some shopping done. I travel light always.

My MMU is all packed and ready to go too. I'll be bringing DW Themis + Hebe mix, DW Cafe Au Lait finishing powder, Aromaleigh URFP in Translucent, Cargo blush in Tonga, Physician's Formula e/s compact and maybe the new EG lippies. AVON Magix would also go with me as my primer and mattifier. That's it. All no shimmer, matte, pressed and compacts for easy use.

Have a great weekend everyone!!! See you next week.

AVON Magix Review

I've used my new AVON Magix Face Perfector SPF 20 a total of 2 times.

My verdict? My new HG mattifier!

Seriously, this is love. The box says it keeps the face matte for 10 hours. I haven't had it on my face that long. At most for 7 hours maybe but it did keep my face matte.

Last time I wore it was Friday of last week. I was busy running around fixing our papers, passports for our trip next week. It was also VERY hot and humid. I think the news said it was 38-40 deg. Celsius that day. (Probably why I was so thirsty all the time). I was sweating buckets but my face was still matte. Matte but not flat :-)

I didn't break out and good thing is it has an added SPF 20. I hope we get this locally soon because it is only available in AVON US sites. (I had to ask someone to CP it for me after hearing about her good review on it).

Mail Day!

Another round of packages came today.

Toma of Makeup Masala sent me my prize for being one of the winners of her recent contest:

Avon lippie, freebies
Avon glazewear
Teddy Bear shade
Avon swatch

I won an AVON Glazewear liquid lipcolor in Teddy Bear.  She kindly included other freebies with the package.

Avon glazewear in Teddy Bear

Here's what it looks like on me -------->

The gloss is only very slightly sticky and smells good (like chocolate?) and doesn't leave my lips dry.  It's opaque, a liquid lipstick and can stand on it's own.

It lasts longer than most glosses which stay on for an hour or so.  It's probably due to the slight stickiness that makes it stay on the lips longer.  It really is a very pretty color, pinky-brown.

From Vely (Thank you!), sample of Pure Anada in Golden Harvest and other samples she included:

samples

From Candace of Pure Anada.  She sent me samples of 2 of the new shades she formulated for Asian skin tones in Medium Gold and Deep Gold.  I still have to test tomorrow which one is my shade.

This was from a panic buying moment, my order on the left photo and the freebies on the right photo.

Emu oil and Emu SoapFREEBIES!

Joyce's Lumiere order also came in today.  I also received an SMS from a friend that my MAC order came and she'll send it to me this week.  I got the New View MSF in Medium-Dark and a MSF in Pleasantry.  The Lustre Twins lippie I ordered was out of stock :-(

My Dreamworld isn't here yet but I haven't received a shipping notice so it probably hasn't shipped out yet.  My Jessie's Girl order isn't here either and that shipped way ahead of all those I got today.  I think they send it out in a box so that's probably the cause of delay (hopefully).  Another one I'm waiting for is my small sample order from Aromaleigh.

Will do reviews of some other stuff and post them up soon.  Hope you all have Happy Mail Days too.
