Aromaleigh Contest

One of my favorite mineral makeup companies is having a contest!  They'll be giving out 5 full sized sets of their Spring Solstice shadows to the lucky winners at the beginning of April.

The link to the LE Spring Solstice collection of shadows is here:

The link to Miss K's blog about the contest is here:

I hope I'm one of the winners.  Aromaleigh's pigments are one of the most beautiful pigments out there...even better than some high-end ones at a fraction of the cost.   Crossing my fingers (and toes)!!!

Nikki's Mix

This is supposed to be "Jane's Mix" but I tweaked it a bit.
FYI, Jane's Mix is a finishing powder mixed up by Jane from the Aromaleigh forum. You can tweak the recipe whatever way you want (like all minerals) whether for cooler or warmer skintones. It's basically made up of Aromaleigh products using sample sizes for easier measurement.

Here's what I did:

When I started putting in the different powders:

Coquille powders

There's Lilas, Nectarine, Vert, Rose, Juane in the photo.

Final Product:

Nikki's Mix

I filled up a 30 gram jar when I was done. I mixed the following AL products:

In sample sizes (Jane's Mix but not the exact recipe)-

Coquilles:
1 Nectarine
1 Juane
1 Rose
1 Lilas
1/2 Vert (it was too green)

1/2 Medium Bronze
2 x Illuminator
1 Perle Splendor
1/2 Perle Illusion

I added in:

1/4 tsp. Silica
1/2 tsp. Kaolin Clay

I think I'm going to add in more Silica and Kaolin clay for more oil control. Maybe a little Allantoin and Boron Nitride too? So far, my mix has a little bit of glow with a little bit of oil control and it also makes the skin look a bit airbrushed. I think I'm going to add in my URFP sample too to make it look more airbrushed on. I may need a bigger jar than this to mix in.

Mail Day & Korean Kitty

Another mail day today and I am overwhelmed. Just look at the pics which speak for themselves. It would take me a few weeks to go thru all these and post reviews.
From Aromaleigh, my sample order:

Smokey Eye Kit - Charcoal Trio e/s

other e/s

foundations

FP's & Hi-Def. Powder

Primer Powders

Whew!!! That's a lot to sample. I wished the EG Minerals site is working coz I don't remember the types of foundations I chose or the ingredients.

********************

My brother-in-law came from Seoul, Korea last week and gave my DD a few Hello Kitty items that are just too cute:

mechanical pencil and stickers

necklace and ring set

hair accessories

for me: bag and bracelet

That's all for now. I haven't even removed the plastic seals the cosmetics came in. Will post more once I have time to swatch and try them on. So many eyeshadows when I don't even use them that much LOL!

Lauress Pure Yellow

I tried out my Lauress samples again over the weekend and have decided on Pure Yellow. I really don't want to have to buy 2 FS of Pure Yellow and Pure Gold then mixing them together. That is just too much foundation (and a bit expensive too for full sizes compared to other brands).

Pure Yellow does make me look brighter compard to Pure Gold which looks dull on me. I could just color correct the yellow tones with the Lauress Chiffon (violet) color corrector which I also really like. It gives a soft matte look and at the same time lessening the too yellow tones of the foundation.

Saturday FOTD:
This is only Lauress Minimalist in Pure Yellow topped with Lauress Chiffon Enhancer

(with flash)

(without flash)

Sunday FOTD (when I watched Indiana Jones):

Camellia Rose V2.0 primer
Lauress Minimalist foundation in Pure Yellow
Lauress Chiffon Enhancer ff. by Lauress FP in Medium
Blush: Cargo Beach Blush in Echo Beach (all 4 shades using FO brush)
Lips: AL lipstick in Rosebud

Matte EOTD:

UDPP as primer
SN Unblush all over lids
Aromaleigh Pure Eyes Matte in Fawn from lashline to crease
Aromaleigh Carolina Matte e/s in Bougainvilla on crease and outer V
Aromaleigh Carolina Matte e/s in Sand under browbone

***I suck at the blending because I was in a hurry and my first time to try out mattes w/o road-testing them first..

Day Off

Today my DD and I went to the mall to buy her first school shoes. First time that it was just the 2 of us coz usually hubby is with us or my mom. We both had a fun day shopping LOL!

FOTD:

Camellia Rose V 2.0 Primer
Joppa FC foundation Medium #3
Joppa finishing silk in Medium and Rosey (final)
AL Coquille Powder in Nectarine on cheeks
EDM blush in Apple
Lumiere silk radiance in Winter Silk on cheeks
Lips:
SN l/g in Birthday Suit

I really like Lumiere Winter Silk. I think I'll be needing a back-up of these radiances. They're not too glowy but just enhances the cheeks or gives them a sheen without looking too oily since I'm very oily-skinned.

EOTD:

UDPP as primer
Valerie Beauty flexi in Skin Tight from lashline to crease, dry
Valerie Beauty flexi in Zen, thick-lined dry on upper lashline

(My 1st time to wear eyeshadow after a month or 2. These are also the 1st e/s I saw lying around that's why I used them.).

I bought "some" stuff: undies, Garnier Light Dark Spot Corrector Pen, another Zoya nail polish in Laurie:

I am so giddy with excitement because I found 1 store selling Zoya nail polishes here. I know it is only sold in the US in salons or online at Qtica (aka Zoya.com or artofbeauty.com w/c doesn't ship internationally and Beautyofasite.com w/c does ship internationally but has VERY expensive shipping). I got only Laurie from the Blissful collection because this wasn't a planned purchase. I've been lemming for the Blissful collection for about a week now LOL! I'll get more when I go back to that mall (which is my favorite mall). I also got it cheaper than website prices (well if you include shipping). Only around $7.70 a bottle, woo-hoo!

PS: Hey, Sue! We now have the Garnier Skin Naturals line here and they're really cheap! The Dark Spot corrector, I got for only Php199 (or about $4.60). Their face washes and creams are roughly the same price both for the Light line and the Pure line.

Ahhhh! It feels so good to go out and shop with just me and DD. I must do this again soon.

FOTD of last Sunday's lunch at the Riviera Golf & Country Club:

Joppa FC in Medium #3
Joppa finishing silk in Medium and Rosey
Blush: Joppa Just Blush
Lips: Aromaleigh lipstick in Perfect
no eyeshadow

It's been raining the past few days now (2 typhoons have passed too) and I guess summer is now over when it's just supposed to be the middle of it :-(

Saturday Night Out

DH and I went to his induction as a Diplomate of The Philippine Board of Surgery. It was held at the EDSA Sangri-la Hotel so I took my sweet time getting ready.
FOTN (face of the night):

Pure Luxe Cream eraser as Primer
Ocean Mist Foundation in Sandstone (3 layers)
Aromaleigh Pure Concealer in # 5
Silk Naturals Perfecting Powder
Ocean Mist Saffron concealer under eyes
Aromaleigh Coquille powder in Nectarine
Blush: Lumiere Hibiscus
Dayna's Glow powder in Golden Zephyr on nose bridge
a palette mix of BE Rose Radiance, Lumiere Natural Radiance and Dayna's Peach Glow on top of blush, and T-zone
Lips: Aromaleigh listick in Cognac
Eyes:
UDPP Primer Potion
Silk Naturals Unblush all over lid as base
Meow Ideal Eyes Breakfast at Kitty's from lashline to crease
Meow Ideal Eyes You Had Me at Meow on crease
Meow Ideal Eyes Catablanca on outer V
Dayna's Glow powder in Golden Zephyr as highlight on brow bone
MAD's Magnetism indelible gelliner on upper and lower lashline and brows
lashes curled, no mascara
My hair:I put it into a twisted ponytail. This looks complicated but it really isn't. I used a tool to do this. You put your hair in a loose ponytail first then insert the stick with a loop at the end in the middle of the ponytail near your scalp. The loose end of your hair is inserted into the loop and you just pull it out until the hair twists...and that's it!

Here's a shot of my shoe (which I really love):

It's by VNC ( I think it's a Malaysian brand) and they ake really soft and comfortable shoes even if they're high heels. You can run in them and your feet won't hurt. Plus it's not that expensive, too.
Nail polish is China Glaze in Melbourne Mauve. I also put on some Palmer's Leg Gloss.
We had a great night and the food was good.

**I'm proud of you DH!

Busy Weekend

The past weekend was really busy. Saturday, we had lunch with family friends since one of them would be going back to the Vatican in Rome where he is based. (He's a priest and he performed the marriage rites in my wedding a few years ago and he'll be coming back March of next year for my brother's wedding). I had on Silk Naturals Perfect Harmony topped with their Perfecting Powder. Eyes: Pureluxe Golden Sands all over lid then Chocolate Blueberries from lashline to crease. Blush is Babydoll (a local mmu line) in Strawberry Smoothie. Lips: Maybelline 3D Pearls in Absolute Brandy.

We then went to my friend's house so our kids can go trick or treating around their village. The foundation held up really well even if I've been running around the whole day.

Sunday, my uncle from New Zealand came here for business with a short visit on the side. We went to the park/mall to chill out and for me to get some Lush shampoo bars for Sue (*waves* to Sue).

Just wore Silk Naturals Perfecting Powder in the morning when I went out since I thought I could still have time to wash my face again after lunch and put on foundation but I really didn't have time anymore. So I went out with just the powder on (and nobody got scared of me haha!). Blush was a pressed one that I did of 3 glow powders (with a pic in a previous post). Eyes: Pureluxe Harmony on inner V to middle of lid and Cashmere from middle to outer V and crease and Tanzanite gelliner. Lips were Aromaleigh lipstick in Cognac.

Monday was also busy but I forgot to take pics of the mmu I wore. Went to the mall to buy stuff for my aunt and cousins back in New Zealand. I wore UGloGirl in Butter Pecan, UGG Correcting Powder in Lilac, SN Perfecting Powder, Cargo blush in Tonga, Stila mousse shadow pot in Amber and Maybelline 3d Pearls in Absolute Brandy. I really should've taken pics especially since I just got myself a new digital camera (Sony Cybershot DSC-W55 in Pink!) last Friday.

Well, it's gonna be a busy week for me since we have a lot of national holidays coming up. I'll take pics, promise.

Happy Halloween!

Aromaleigh

I got my Aromaleigh orders that Lili sent last week (Thanks Lili! *waves*). I got samples of foundation, metamorphosis finishing powder, perle powders, concealers and a full size lippie in Cognac. The lipgloss I ordered in Noir was out of stock. I'll try out the samples next week since I am still testing other lines. Here are some pics of my loot:

The lippie smelled of chocolate as soon as I removed the plastic seal. Yum! I tried it on and it is the perfect nude lipstick for me. Love it! This would look great with stronger eye looks. It is my first nude lipstick since most of my l/s are pink and my nude colors are lipglosses. It didn't dry out my lips. I think I want some more in other colors.
