Lumiere Sale Mini-Haul

Lumiere Skin & Beauty Bar is one of the mineral makeup companies that I patronize. Their Cashmere blend of foundation is one of my HG mineral foundations.

Ingredients (Cashmere):
real silk powder, serecite, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, boron nitride, iron oxide

It's for all skin types and coverage is light to medium buildable. Although it is not heavy coverage like I prefer, it still looks so good on the skin and is my go to foundation for very hot and humid days or for days that I don't need to cover too much. I also match Medium Warm perfectly with no need to mix shades.

Anyway, thay had a good sale a month ago with a discount code and with their 30 gr jar sizes all on clearance because they would be shifting to a bigger size jar. I took advantage of the sale and only ot 2 items- a backup of Cashmere foundation plus a FS jar of Island Sands.

Island Sands is one of Lumiere's Silk Radiances and is described as "nude tanned pink with a light glowy finish". I've ordered a lot of the Silk Radiances before in full sizes but only have a tiny vial of this one. The Silk Radiances are like highliters and I use them on my cheeks. They have a very light sheen which makes you look like you're lit from within. Really beautiful...and addicting to collect.

Previous posts of Silk Radiance swatches are here and here.

Cut, Color, other stuff

Weeks ago I had a haircut and I got a short one. Yesterday, I colored my own hair using Revlon Colorsilk in #33 Dark Soft Brown to cover my gray hair - yikes! I have a lot...it's genetic :-(

It doesn't look good when it's not blow dried but I guess it's always like that. It just looks good when coming from the salon (esp. since my hair is wavy). Last time I colored my hair was more than 1 year ago and I don't remember what shade of Colorsilk I used.

Looking at this photo I'm not sure if my hair looks like this under the sun but I hope not. Maybe it's just the effect of the camera's flash. Important thing is - NO GRAY HAIR!

***
Been playing around with some of my EG Minerals eye shadow samples.

I used Too Shy on the lid and Fruit of the Vine Cabernet on the crease. I applied them dry and with no base. They are both shimmery and I got shimmer fall out on my cheeks. They also seem sheer and I applied a lot but they did not come out well in the photos. I guess I should have used a base.

*************
Today I am using EG Minerals shadow in The Rainbow from the Illusion collection. It appears white in the bag but once applied and hit by light you can see the color, in this case it's Amber (says the website). I tried to get a picture but because my camera is crappy, I can't take a photo of it at all. The color won't come out in the picture.

I am trying to put on eyeshadow everyday now just so i could use all my samples - I have more than 200 colors!!! Even if I am just here at home, I'll try to put on even just 1 shade. Most of the time I don't get to use eye shadows when I go out because I am always in a hurry. Only just enough time to put on foundation and blush (the lippie I put on in the car).

Recent photo when we went to Tagaytay last Sunday for mom and dad's anniversary:

I used:
Avon Magix Face Perfector
Dreamworld foundation in Amenti Luna
Dreamworld Creme Topping in Cocoa
AL URFP in Translucent

Blush:
Lumiere Ditto "O"
Lumiere Be True Silk Radiance on top of blush

Lips:
Eyeko Strawberry Fat Balm

Eye shadow:
None

Lumiere EOTD

**I'm not an expert in makeup application, more so on e/s application so please bear with me. I'm just learning.

I tried out my new Lumiere shadows the other day and here's what I came up with. All 3 applied dry with no base.

Products used:

Honey Brown from lash line to crease
Peppermint Patti on crease
Foliage on upper lashline

All photos taken with flash and as you can see the pigments applied vibrantly since flash usually washes out the colors. I really like honey brown (looks gold in the photo).

Need to practice some more and pair them with other shades.

Lumiere Swatches

Swatches of my Lumiere pigments, all swatched dry, no base:

Indoor light with flash

Shades:

1. Be True Silk Radiance
2. Island Sands Silk Radiance
3. Natural Radiance AOFC
4. Gleeful Silk Radiance
5. Cherry Blossom Silk Blush
6. Ditto "O" mineral blush
7. Honey Brown shimmer e/s
8. Foliage shimmer e/s
9. Peppermint Patti glitz e/s

***
Cherry Blossom isn't as dark as I initially thought it would be so I only got a trial size, which is good. Both Be True and Gleeful would stand alone, for me, as a blush since they are both pigmented and darker colored radiances. Ditto 'O' does look so pretty. It was done as a dupe for NARS Orgasm blush and since I don't have the latter, I can't compare.

I love the e/s colors I chose and I know they would coordinate well with each other. They're not too shimmery and with a light hand can be used for everyday looks. Applied foiled, these would stand out as all Lumiere shadows do.

Regarding the vials, those for the trial size/small size ones for shadows, I kinda like. My small shadow brushes can fit into the opening or I could just get the powder sticking to the inner lid. Those for the blushes/radiances, however, I have to transfer a small amount into the mixing bowl. Good thing my mmu drawers can fit these vials standing up so no problems for me regarding storage.

The Medium sized swirly bowl I got is too small to fit my large powder brushes. I should have gotten the Large size too. The Medium is slightly bigger than a 10 gr. jar for comparison but much smaller than a 20 gm jar.

CYS and Lumiere Haul

Both my CYS and Lumiere orders came at the same time.

All of them smell so good but I haven't sniffed the freebies I got yet.

Breakdown of what I got and some initial thoughts on some of them:

Bath Moisture Whip in Pumpkin Whipped Cream
"Heavy on the whipped cream...with just the tiniest hint of pumpkin"
- This is my 2nd favorite scent of this batch. It smells creamy and a bit sweet. Yum! The color also looks good enough to eat.

Oil Infused Creamy Body Wash in Candy Corn Cream Cake"The famous Halloween candy baked into an angel food cake"

3-in-1 Body Bubbles in Vanilla Bean Noel
"Bath & Body Works dupe (but better!) Delicious vanilla w/ caramel"
- I haven't smelled the original BBW one but this smells like a good creamy vanilla scent and I do love vanilla. This isn't very strong that it would make you nauseous.

Creamy Oil in Caramel Apple Fluff
"Everyone's favorite Autumn treat, dipped in melted marshmallows"
- I think I need to let this cure for a while because I don't smell the apples as of now.

Creamy Dreamy Scrub in Lemon Marshmallow Cream
"Lemon, Marshmallow fluff and Whipped Cream"
- This is my favorite among all these. It smells lemony yet not too tart. Exactly like their description that it has that hint of marshmallow and cream scent. I can't wait to use this.

Included in my box were freebies!

Silken Body Butter in First Rain
"This scent evokes images of taking a shower under a waterfall. It’s a soapy, clean scent w/ a fresh air note"

Perfume in Berry Patch
"Patchouli infused with cherry almond, stra wberry and hints of Sandalwood and Jasmine. Again…I don’t love patchouli, but this is really pretty!"

Will report back once I've sniffed these 2.

This is the freebie gummi burger. My DD loves this and before I could take a picture she grabbed it and ran away. I told her I still had to get a photo and she was the one who took this shot :-) Then she ran away again and ate it all.

Reviews of the products in future posts.

***********************
Lumiere is here!

I ordered along with a friend (a very timely present coz she passed her board exams this week!).

The next photos are only my orders.

The Medium Mixing Bowl. I can just imagine how small the small size would be!

Trio Cheek Color in Natural Radiance, Island Sands and Be True:

6. pcs Trial Size vials in Gleeful, Ditto 'O', Cherry Blossom cheek colors and eyeshadows in Honey Brown, Peppermint Patti and Foliage.

So many new colors to play with and the new vial packaging looks cute. Since I haven't opened these vials and tested them I still don't know how it would fare with daily usage. Swatches next post. I'm so tired.

Waiting for packages...

...has me a bit stressed although I know I shouldn't be since I can't do anything about it. It's a holiday here until the 2nd of Jan. so I won't get any until next week.

I'm waiting for:

Dayna's (2 glows and 2 blushes)
Silk Naturals (1 gloss, 1 FO brush)
CYS (I posted it previously)
a gift package from Eyeko
my prize of 3 Rimmel mascaras from Toma for winning her contest (Makeup Masala).

That's a lot huh?

I was also able to order from Lumiere (together with Joyce) the other day when they extended their sale since the code wouldn't work on the supposedly last day of sale. We got 35% off our combined order, woo-hoo!

I got the following:

** All photos grabbed from the Lumiere website.

- 3 pcs. Small Cheek Color in Be True, Island Sands and Natural Radiance
Be trueIsland sandsNat'l rad.

- 6 Custom Trial Vials in Cherry Blossom, Ditto 'O', Gleeful, Foliage, Honey Brown and Peppermint Patti.

and a Medium Swirly Bowl with lid.

Bowl

Happy, happy as I've been lemming for the other radiances from Lumiere for a long time now. I just added in the 6 trial sizes since I've been curious about the e/s colors and I wanted to get smaller sizes of the 3 other cheek colors.

Basing on my previous post for my wishlist for Christmas...yes, I got most of them except for 1 (the laptop- but this isn't really important as I have a PC in good running condition).

Did you get your Christmas wishes?

Mail Day!

Mail days are like Christmas aren't they? I'm sure you all feel the same way I do :-)
Got 3 packages yesterday from DW, Sally and Lumiere.
From Dreamworld, this is the replacement package of my missing one. (That's why my next order I sent via Priority mail :-( ).

Dreamworld

It's the Fullsize jar of Butterscotch Creme Topping (clay/silica), samples of Angel and Peanut Butter Creme Toppings and Amenti in Luna. I got more FS jars of Angel and Butter in my next order and I'm glad to hear that DW's FS of Creme toppings are now in 30 gr. jars! More value for your money definitely. Amenti looks like my match (see next post).

From Sally I bought her EDM Angled Blush Brush and she so generously added a few other samples as a birthday gift. Thank you so much!

EDM

Included were a 5 gr jar of Plum Dust blush, baggie samples of Launch Party blush, Alima e/s in Prosecco and Bayou and Starlight Glo (is this DW?). Glad to try out Plum Dust since this is in my ghost cart at EDM.

From Lumiere I got 2 blushes in Terra Cotta and Mimosa and English Rose Lumi lips.

Lumiere
Notice that their packaging is now shrink-wrapped.

Lumiere

Here's the swatch of English Rose taken without flash under bathroom lighting.

English Rose lumilips swatch

It applied very sheerly and didn't stay long on the lips. For an everyday gloss it would do but I don't think I would repurchase.

Oh, I also got a card from Ann with birthday shower samples.

samples from Ann

I still have a few more packages I'm waiting for but they've all just been shipped this week so I still have to wait a few more weeks.

Lumiere Silk Radiances Swatches

Here are swatches of the Lumiere Silk Radiances as requested :-)
I have Medium skin tone (Medium Warm Lumiere Cashmere).

indoor, with flash

outdoor, no flash

outdoor, with flash

Bare Beauty is really pretty! Winter Silk looks white but it doesn't make my face look white when applied. Just a very slight glow/sheen.

Lumiere pkg.

Got my Lumiere package from the Surgery Sale.

I have the ff. in 20 gr jars: Cashmere foundation in Medium Warm, Silk Radiances in Nectar, Bare Skin and Winter Silk (back-up).

Lumiere

Just noticed that for this order all the jars have black, matte lids. Very much like the BE jars.

matte lid
Also the sifters inside are shallower which is good because in my last order, the sifters of the 20gr jars went in HALF-WAY in the jars. This made the jar only half-full yet they looked full bec. the product was up to the sifters.
Here's a comparison pic. Newer jar on the left, older jar on the right.

lumiere jars

older jar

Oh, and Lumiere doesn't give freebies unlike all other mmu companies.

Right now, Lumiere has a Summer Sale of fullsize items going on until the end of August.

Lumiere Sale

I have been waiting for this for a loooong time and I'm glad Aileen posted about this on our local forum. Without thinking twice (even if I'm over my monthly limit) I ORDERED!!!

I got my fullsize jar of Medium Warm Cashmere (just the 20 gr size though) plus the Cheek Color Set with Nectar, Bare Beauty and a back-up of Winter Silk (I am so loving this one).
My total for this whole caboodle was $29 something WITH SHIPPING. Hee ha!

Sale is only until Monday and use the code Lumiere20 for 20% of your entire order.

Even with all those shipping options with insurance or not, etc. I just chose the cheapest international shipping of $5 because their policy says even if I choose same with insurance this only applies to damage during shipping. So far I have NEVER had any damage to merchandise in the 3 years I've been ordering online, mmu or not. The only thing I have to deal with is the long time to wait but hopefully I get my package in the end.

The only thing I am waiting for is a Lauress Sale and I am done (for a while) with buying mmu foundations. (Ha ha, let's see). Time to build up my bank savings again.

Happy Shopping!

PS: I am typing/ surfing so fast now because my PC has been acting up since last night. It turns off on it's own and won't start. I hope I get it fixed soon. Dang!

PS2: I am sick right now with pharyngitis and am on high dose antibiotics. I almost got confined in the hospital the other day but good thing I wasn't. I am just wearing my surgical mask in the house so as not to infect the other people and my daughter especially. First time this happened to me :-( I don't even know where I got it.

PS3: I have been soooo addicted to the Twilight Series of books although I only have Book 3: Eclipse and I'm still waiting for Twilight (#1) and New Moon (#2) which I ordered online. These books have been out of stock everywhere. I can't wait for #4 Breaking Dawn to be released in August 2008, Midnight Sun (written in Edward's point of view) and the movie showing Dec. 12, 2008.

Since I bought Eclipse last Sunday, I have read the book 2 times since I am confined in bed. It is a very thick book and is just so riveting, really a page-turner.

Saturday Night Out

DH and I went to his induction as a Diplomate of The Philippine Board of Surgery. It was held at the EDSA Sangri-la Hotel so I took my sweet time getting ready.
FOTN (face of the night):

Pure Luxe Cream eraser as Primer
Ocean Mist Foundation in Sandstone (3 layers)
Aromaleigh Pure Concealer in # 5
Silk Naturals Perfecting Powder
Ocean Mist Saffron concealer under eyes
Aromaleigh Coquille powder in Nectarine
Blush: Lumiere Hibiscus
Dayna's Glow powder in Golden Zephyr on nose bridge
a palette mix of BE Rose Radiance, Lumiere Natural Radiance and Dayna's Peach Glow on top of blush, and T-zone
Lips: Aromaleigh listick in Cognac
Eyes:
UDPP Primer Potion
Silk Naturals Unblush all over lid as base
Meow Ideal Eyes Breakfast at Kitty's from lashline to crease
Meow Ideal Eyes You Had Me at Meow on crease
Meow Ideal Eyes Catablanca on outer V
Dayna's Glow powder in Golden Zephyr as highlight on brow bone
MAD's Magnetism indelible gelliner on upper and lower lashline and brows
lashes curled, no mascara
My hair:I put it into a twisted ponytail. This looks complicated but it really isn't. I used a tool to do this. You put your hair in a loose ponytail first then insert the stick with a loop at the end in the middle of the ponytail near your scalp. The loose end of your hair is inserted into the loop and you just pull it out until the hair twists...and that's it!

Here's a shot of my shoe (which I really love):

It's by VNC ( I think it's a Malaysian brand) and they ake really soft and comfortable shoes even if they're high heels. You can run in them and your feet won't hurt. Plus it's not that expensive, too.
Nail polish is China Glaze in Melbourne Mauve. I also put on some Palmer's Leg Gloss.
We had a great night and the food was good.

**I'm proud of you DH!
