A Wedding and a Funeral (Personal)

Just as I was getting my groove back into blogging something came up -- again.

My brother-in-law died last night, I presume from a heart attack (I'm still sketchy on the details) as he has had debilitating heart problems since a year ago.  He left behind his wife (my hubby's sister) and their 2 kids aged 7 and 10.  The sad part is that my 10 y/o nephew was the one who heard him fall and saw him lying on the kitchen floor and called his mother.  He was DOA when brought to the hospital but they still tried to revive him.

I was texting my SIL last night while she was on her way home.  She was asking me if she should tell her kids right away because they were waiting up for her when she got home.  She said she didn't know what to do and how to tell them that their father has died coz my nephew even asked her if they could visit his dad the next morning at the hospital.  I said yes, tell them right away.

My hubby and I couldn't go to them last night because they live in Lipa, Batangas.  The Star Toll is pitch black at night and we won't be able to do anything anyway as it was around 10:30pm already.  We were both sobbing and our DD saw us so we told her what happened.  We both believe it is best for her to know about life and death early on so she'll know how to deal with it the right way.  The 3 of us were crying our eyes out last night.

Hubby went over to his parents' house early this morning so he and his brothers could tell them the bad news and go with them to Batangas. They're on their way now.  I'll just go tomorrow.

Too bad this has happened as we had to cancel our family trip which we had planned the past couple of weeks with my parents and our very close friends.  Hubby wanted me and my DD to go with my parents and push thru with it but I just couldn't. This is the first time he has experienced loss of someone close in his family and I need to be with him/ them.  My little girl would be disappointed because she was looking forward to this trip and we have prepared, bought and reserved everything needed even up to the food!  I still have the task of telling her later.  Even my parents cancelled the trip themselves.

Hubby says this always happens during Holy Week.  When we plan a trip or get back from a trip, every year something bad happens.  I won't go into details on that but it always has something to do with someone in the family- death, sickness - always something grave.

I still don't know what would happen this week.  One thing's sure - the back and forth trips to Batangas.  Then an early morning wedding come Monday right after Easter.  Yep, it's my cousin's wedding next week.  I hope we make it on time as my DD is the flower girl.  I hate morning weddings.  I'll probably go there without any makeup on, looking like s*%t because of a stressful week. And I hope we also make it on time for my DD's first swimming class at noon that same day.

Oh gawd, I hope I don't get sick again.  I already took my meds this morning as prophylaxis because I feel myself getting out of breath.  I had to de-stress by cleaning the room & bathroom and giving our pet hedgehog his overdue bath (yeah, cleaning is therapeutic for me even if someone else can do it instead).

So I'll say see you soon and hope everyone has a safe Holy Week.

Happy Easter!
