Etude House BB Magic Pact

I've never used a Pact or any other foundation in compacts before.  The BB Magic Pact is the first time I used one.  I got this on my 2nd Etude House haul in a previous post.  It costs Php 678 and they come in 2 shades, #1 and #2.  I got #2 which is darker of the 2.

The box is pretty in a holographic sort of way.  Really eye-catching.  Too bad most of the info is written in Korean.

What I like about this Pact is that it's Talc-free and Oil-free.  Good for sensitive skins.  It also contains Silica which is a good oil-absorber for me.

(You can click on the ingredients photo below to enlarge it ).

The compact itself is just too pretty! Purple with embossed swirls!!!

Like all other Korean Pacts, these run a bit light.  Their shades cater more to Korean skin tones which are much lighter than us Pinays.  I'm on the medium range of shades (NC 30-35).  Shade #2 Natural Beige is a bit lighter than me.

It comes with it's own mirror and puff on top of a stiff plastic protector to separate the puff from the powder.  Very convenient to use for touch-ups.  There is also a slight floral smell (like other Etude House products) but it didn't bother me nor did it trigger any of my allergies because it wasn't too strong and went away soon after.

I use the puff to apply it on my face.  I tried using a brush but the brush scraped the powder and made a mess.  The puff works though and what I did is to just pat it all over my face in 1 light layer.  Doing more than 1 layer would make my face too white.  I then applied a darker finishing powder on top to make it more even with my neck which is more darker than my face (I'm working on making it lighter again.  My previous beach trip made my neck darker).  Adding a bronzer all over worked better too.  If my neck were lighter, then I'd have no problem with this pact, ha!

I am loving this pact because it made my skin look so flawless! I've been using it for almost 2 weeks now and I haven't broken out so far.  The box said to use it on top of foundation but coverage is on the medium side for me even when used alone.  Maybe it could be built to a heavier coverage for those who match the shades exactly as you could put on more layers.  It also stayed put the whole day that even when I look in the mirror late in the afternoon or night, my skin still looked flawless (even if the FP or bronzer has already disappeared making my face whiter again).

Regarding oil control, it controlled my oilies pretty well.  By mid-afternoon, my face looked dewy but not oily, mostly on the forehead area.  I just don't use it to retouch because my face would be whiter again.  Actually, I don't think I need to retouch with this because it stayed put.  It's the darker colored FP that needed retouch.

Here's the shade swatched at the back of my hand.

And here's an FOTD with BB Magic Pact shade #2.  This is topped with Dreamworld Creme Topping in Peanut Butter (a darker colored mineral finishing powder).  I added a bronzer later on to make my face even with my neck in color but I forgot to take a photo of that.

Hey, E, thanks!!!

Nikki: this has BB cream properties in it. Not sure if those with dry skins can use it but EH has Pacts specifically for dry skin.

Thiamere: no worries, you're welcome!

Ceecile: yes, it is very cute!

nice review.. that's what drove me nuts here too. although there are lots of cosmetics and shops to choose from, their available shades just don't fit my not so light skin... i appreciate Amore Pacific products though (like Laneige) for offering darker shades but my gawd they are pricey. TheFaceShop has nice face powders in shade# 25. It's good with pinay skin tone...
